Weather History
A massive arctic air mass over Alaska dropped temperatures in the state to as low as -75 degreesi on this date in 1989. As this air mass began moving towards the continental United States, warm air was pushed ahead of it, causing a balmy temperature reading of 62 degrees in Great Falls, MT. As the front pushed through the upper Midwest, wind gusts of up to 124 mph were reported in Choteau, MN.

Dense Fog Advisory Statement as of 7:03 am PST on January 30, 2015

... Dense fog advisory remains in effect until noon PST today...

* timing... fog will be dense in many areas of the San Joaquin
Valley during the morning commute with slow dissipation
thereafter through noon.

* Visibility... 500 feet or less.

* Impacts... dense fog can make driving hazardous... especially
during the morning commute. Slow down... put headlights on low
beam... and leave extra stopping distance between you and the
vehicle in front of you. If possible... postpone travel until
conditions improve.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving... slow down...
use your headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
